SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

VincyCares, Inc. established the Victoria Sutherland Scholarship Fund to assist less fortunate children who exhibit potential in academics, sports or the arts, but face financial challenges in achieving a secondary education. The assistance given helps alleviate the added financial burden on a family.

In 2021, we awarded twelve (12) new secondary school scholarships and two (2) new tertiary scholarships for the 2021/2022 school year.

In 2022, four (4) of our recipients graduated; two (2) from secondary school, and two (2) from tertiary. In 2023, eight (8) students graduated from The St. Vincent Girls’ High School, The St. Vincent Grammar School and The Sandy Bay Secondary School with exceptional performances. We are extremely proud of the progress of all our students, especially in these different and difficult times.

We welcomed six (6) new secondary school students to our family on July 13, 2023, which totals forty-eight (48) scholarships since the organization’s inception. We now have a total of twenty-three (23) active scholarships.

Our current scholarship recipients attend various secondary schools throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines, including Bishop’s College Kingstown, Canouan Secondary School, Petit Bordel Secondary, Sandy Bay Secondary School, St. Vincent Girls’ High School, St. Vincent Grammar School, Thomas Saunders Secondary School, and Union Island Secondary School.

Secondary school scholarships are for five years and can be donated in memory of a loved one or to a child from the donor’s Alma Mater.

On July 13, 2023, VincyCares disbursed twenty-three scholarship payments for the 2023/2024 academic year at a ceremony held at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown. Six of the recipients are new additions to the VincyCares family. The disbursements were presented by the President, Gillian Arthur.

On August 15, 2022, VincyCares disbursed twenty-three scholarship payments for the 2022/2023 academic year at a ceremony held at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown. The disbursements were presented by former scholarship recipient Niesha Richards, who motivated the students to “treasure this opportunity, find ways to help the organization and inspire other recipients who come after you.”
